Dr. Maria Gonzalez Berlari

(Medical Director at GB Family Care)

She attended medical school at the National University of Rosario in Argentina, and in 2002 she graduated as one of the best 10 of her generation.

After moving to the United States and finishing a year of research in the Department

Psychiatry at the University of Iowa, Dr. Gonzalez-Berlari, completed her internship before finishing her residency in family medicine at Miami Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Her research led to two studies funded by the National Institute of Health (NIH):

1. Treatment with Escitalopram and Problem Solving Therapy for the prevention of depression after a stroke – Published in JAMA, May 28, 2008.
2. Depression in patients who have suffered from strokes – pending publication.

While doing her internship, Dr. Gonzalez-Berlari obtained the scholarship for resident students of the Medical Foundation of South Florida.

After completing her internship, she was accepted into the nationally recognized program of the Geriatrics Association at the Banner Boswell Medical Center. She joined the Abrazo Health Care Medical Group in 2009, which she recently left to found GB Family Care in 2012.

She is certified in family medicine and is an active member of the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American College of Physicians and the Latin American Association of Medicine for the Elderly (ALMA).

Dr. Gonzalez-Berlari is fluent in both Spanish and English and enjoys caring from babies to older adults in a wide variety of medical problems.
